Quilted Vest From A Vintage Quilt

Back by popular demand this is a small group class so each student will have space to spread out and have personal instruction. Begin your year with Bib & Tucker Sew-Op member Chita Drinkard as she teaches you how to transform a vintage, thrifted, or commercially manufactured quilt into a one-of-a-kind jacket or vest. Broken down into two parts this class allows you time to learn at a pace that isn't rushed. This class is aimed at those with intermediate or advanced sewing experience. Please review the needed supply list and order your pattern and acquire your quilt in advance of the class.

Skills needed:
  • Basic knowledge of your sewing machine and comfort with sewing a basic straight stitch and curves.

During this class you will learn:

  • How to use a pattern.
  • How to upcycle a quilt.
  • How to match patterns.
  • How to use bias tape.

 

Supplies Needed:
- Tamarack Jacket pattern that can be ordered HERE or HERE
(order your pattern early to allow for shipping)

-Bring your sewing machine with basic supplies such as needles, thread, bobbins, basic feet. (If you do not have a machine you can rent one from Bib & Tucker for $15.00)

- Walking foot for your machine

- Old quilt (minimum size standard twin)

- Bias tape (contrasting or matching to your quilt) For bias tape you will need ½ yard of fabric of their choice to make your own OR 5 yards of ½” wide double fold bias binding.

- Brown bag lunch or snack (optional)

REFUND POLICY & QUESTIONS

-Bib & Tucker is a 501c3 non-profit organization and the funds generated from this class help to compensate our instructors and fund our overall programs. For this reason we are only able to issue refunds or class credits, if WE, Bib & Tucker Sew-Op happen to cancel or reschedule this class. If YOU register for this class and are unable to attend for any reason, we offer a 50% refund for cancellations 30 or more days prior to the class, we offer no refund for cancellations less than 30 days before the class.
