Intermediate Crochet- C2C (Corner to Corner) Pattern Making, Designing, and Creating
Join Kyoka Akers as she teaches you how to do corner to corner pattern making, designing, and creating. What is C2C Crochet? C2C is a technique where your project is worked diagonally, increasing row by row from one corner until you reach the width and height you want. Then you begin decreasing back down to finish at the opposite corner. This class is aimed at students with intermediate crochet knowledge.

During this class you will learn:
-C2C (corner to corner) technique
-Creating a pattern using Stitch Fiddle and/or graph paper
-How to read a graph pattern
Supplies Needed:
-Either bring your laptop for using Stitch Fiddle or graph paper and colored pencils if not able to bring a laptop.
-2 or 3 skeins different color worsted weight yarn
-size I crochet hook
-your snips or a pair of scissors

Learn to Crochet with Nisha K. (three part class)
Join Era’Nisha Kidd as she introduces you to crochet. This class is perfect for beginners who want to learn the fundamentals of crochet, no prior experience is necessary. You will be guided through each step with live demonstrations and one-on-one assistance. Join us for a fun and relaxing time as you discover the joy of crochet!
Era’Nisha Kidd has run her own business since 2018 called NishaK Crochet. She is a self taught lefty and she can crochet anything by looking at a picture or drawing. She creates clothing and participates in fashion shows all over the South. She fell in love with the art of teaching in 2020, and enjoys helping and teaching others with the hope her students take on a new found love for crochet.
Please note we are offering both an adult's and children's class and each class runs at different times on the same dates. The adult's runs from 10AM - 11:30AM and children's class runs from 12:00PM - 1:30PM.
Dates: July 12th, 19th, and 26th

Children's class (ages 8 - 17)- 12:00PM - 1:30PM

-Get familiar with different types of yarn, crochet hooks, and other essential tools.

Quilted Christmas Wall Hanging Sew-Along
Join Bib & Tucker Sew-Op member Belinda Waldo for a Christmas in Summer sew-along to make a holiday wall hanging. This sew-along is aimed at the advanced beginner quilter and above. Participants should know how to make half square triangles, keep a 1/4 inch seam, and the basics of quilting. The sew-along is limited to five participants and includes all materials for the wall hanging. This sew-along is split up between two dates.
Supplies Needed:
-Bring your sewing machine
-Sewing thread, extra sewing machine needles, and bobbins.
-All other supplies for this class are included.

The Basics of Natural Dyes and Mordants (The Intersection of Art & Agriculture Series)
The Intersection of Art and Agriculture, a series of four workshops that will teach the public how to dye and embellish textiles using food, leaves, and flowers grown at Jones Valley Teaching Farm. The goal of this programming is to educate the public that attractive textile-based creations can be made sustainably with materials that can be readily found growing around us in our yard. This collaboration will demonstrate that the intersection of art and agriculture can be very fruitful and good for the planet. These workshops are made possible by The City of Birmingham Community Arts Grant through Create Birmingham.
In this first workshops of the series you will join local artist Sarah Bell as she introduces you to the basics of immersion natural dyes. Workshop is open to all ages, instructor recommends ages 5 though adults. Sarah Bell is an artist, farmer, and educator based in Birmingham, Alabama. Descended from Chinese and American ancestry, she grew up using art and creativity as a way to find a sense of connection to her experiences of grief, familial emigration, and home.
She has presented work throughout Alabama, including Shelby County Arts Council, Kentuck Museum Gallery, Ground Floor Contemporary, and regularly teaches workshops at Alabama Folk School, MAKEbhm, and others.
