Intermediate Baby Quilt Class (Square in a Square)

Join Sew-Op member Mary Bergeron as she teaches you to make a square in a square block using a simple shortcut. Mary will teach you this square in a square block pattern using 5” and 10” squares and simple techniques that make this project go by quickly. This is an intermediate quilting class for students wanting to expand their quilting skills. (Open to students ages 12 to adult, students 12-14 with guardian for the duration of the class.)
Mary Bergeron is a Bib & Tucker Sew-Op board member and frequent instructor. She has been quilting for over 20 years and loves sharing her knowledge with others!  

Dates: Sunday, August 2nd 2026

Time: 12pm- 4pm

Location: Bib & Tucker Sew-Op Shop, 7001 Crestwood Blvd. Suite #806, Birmingham, AL 35210

Skills Needed:

-confident use of sewing machine including threading, winding bobbin, and sewing straight seams

Supplies Needed:

-sewing machine with extra needles, sewing thread, walking foot for machine (if available)
-45” square piece of batting (available for purchase day of $5)
-1 yard each of 2 coordinating fabrics (For assistance choosing fabrics visit Bib & Tucker Sew-Op during open hours and someone will be
happy to help you choose.)
-2 yards coordinating fabric for backing and binding

Skills you will Learn:
-piecing, adding a border, assembling quilt sandwich
-simple machine quilting dos and don'ts
-binding a quilt using the mitered corner process



REFUND POLICY & QUESTIONS

-Bib & Tucker is a 501c3 non-profit organization and the funds generated from this class help to compensate our instructors and fund our overall programs. For this reason we are only able to issue refunds or class credits, if WE, Bib & Tucker Sew-Op happen to cancel or reschedule this class. If YOU register for this class and are unable to attend for any reason, we offer a 50% refund for cancellations 30 or more days prior to the class, we offer no refund for cancellations less than 30 days before the class.
