ABOUT THIS CLASS
Join instructor Pam Holmes for a hands-on class designed to help you become more comfortable and confident using your serger sewing machine.
During this four-hour class, you'll learn how to safely use your serger, including stitch length, stitch width, differential feed, and balancing thread tension. You'll put those skills into practice while learning how to use your serger to make a simple T-shirt.
WHAT TO BRING
Please bring:
• Your serger sewing machine
• 4 cones of thread, preferably in 4 distinct colors
• 1½–2 yards of knit fabric suitable for making a T-shirt
Practice pieces of knit fabric will be provided by the instructor.
BEFORE CLASS
Students must be able to thread their own serger before class.
Due to the class size and time available, the instructor will not be able to individually thread each student's machine during class.
If you need help learning to thread your serger, Pam is happy to schedule a one-on-one lesson with you prior to the class.
MEET YOUR INSTRUCTOR
Pam Holmes | Garment Construction
Pam is a retired preschool teacher and director of 20 years. She learned to sew when she was six by hand-stitching clothes for her Raggedy Ann, eventually graduating to her mother's pink Atlas sewing machine.
These days, she sews not only for herself but for her granddaughter as well. When she's not sewing, Pam enjoys knitting, drinking coffee, watching Jeopardy!, and hiking.
