Kayju Doll
Join textile artist Rachel Bates at Bib & Tucker Sew-Op, as she teaches you how to transform our KAYJU applique pattern designed by Bib & Tucker Sew-Op co-founder Ms. Annie Bryant into a simple doll form.
Rachel Bates is a textile and fiber artist who resides in Birmingham, Alabama. She inherited a love of needle arts and quilting from her mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. The influence of the Birmingham art community led her to experiment with traditional and modern fiber and textile techniques that include hand dying, weaving, charcoal mark-making, sketch acrylics and watercolors. Her primary emphasis is imagery and portraiture.
You will learn how to modify our flat applique KAYJU pattern into a doll form. This class is geared towards intermediate beginners and beyond, sewers aged 16 and up welcomed. Basic knowledge of how to use your sewing machine is required, most sewing for this class will be done on a machine and not by hand.-Sewing seams.
-Stuffing through multiple openings.
-Embellishment before and after sewing.
-Resizing pattern.
Supplies Needed:
-Sewing Machine with general sewing supplies including thread and bobbin. (If you do not have a machine you can rent one from Bib & Tucker for $15.00)
-Print out of our Kayju pattern. (Get your digital copy to print out here for $10)
-fabrics of your choice to create your doll, we suggest medium weight cottons. Bring a fabric for the skin color and fabrics for the clothing.

REFUND POLICY & QUESTIONS
-Bib & Tucker is a 501c3 non-profit organization and the funds generated from this class help to compensate our instructors and fund our overall programs. For this reason we are only able to issue refunds or class credits, if WE, Bib & Tucker Sew-Op happen to cancel or reschedule this class. If YOU register for this class and are unable to attend for any reason, we offer a 50% refund for cancellations 30 or more days prior to the class, we offer no refund for cancellations less than 30 days before the class.
